Surprise Soft Opening For This Popular EPCOT Attraction

A popular EPCOT attraction has been closed for a multi-month refurbishment, and is set to reopen soon. We are excited to share that it had a soft opening. Find out the details.

EPCOT Closures

Spaceship Earth closed for refurbishment on August 25, 2025. At that time of Spaceship Earth's closure, Disney did not provide a reopening date.

Previously, Disney announced BIG plans to completely overhaul Spaceship Earth. You can see those plans here.

With a new permit filed it appears that the current refurbishment would not include any of these big plans. The permit is simply for "General Construction" and the work will be completed by Engineering Design Solutions.

Spaceship Earth Reopening

Earlier this month, we were excited to share that Spaceship Earth finally had a reopening date! Spaceship Earth will reopen on October 25, 2025.

GEO-82 Lounge, located at the back of Spaceship Earth, has remained open during this refurbishment.

Until Spaceship Earth fully reopens on October 25th, GEO-82 Lounge guests will follow signs to enter the lounge through the west entrance.

Soft Opening

It has been reported that yesterday, Spaceship Earth had a soft opening. Those who have ridden the attraction during the soft opening have shared that there have been no noticeable changes (which is just as we expected).

Spaceship Earth is still listed as closed through October 24, 2025.

We are hopeful that this could be the start of a soft opening period. However, as there are no attraction operating hours listed before October 25th, the attraction could remain closed until the official reopening.
