Cosmic Rewind Disappoints with New Change

Cosmic Rewind Testing Pre-Show Crowd Control

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is one of the most popular Disney attractions, but the pre-show rooms are a bit chaotic. Check out the new testing that is now underway.

Since opening in 2022, Cosmic Rewind is widely popular. A virtual queue is still in place for Cosmic Rewind, while the Lightning Lane Single Pass is still available for this attraction.

Cosmic Rewind features two pre-shows before stepping aboard the attraction. The first takes place on Earth, featuring both Glenn Close in her role as Nova Prime Irani Rael and actor Terry Crews as Tal Marik.

When this show ends, guests can enter the teleportation room for the second pre-show. In this room, guests start at the Welcome Center on Earth and are transported to the Nova Corps ship.

The pre-shows help to assemble Guests to move somewhat orderly onto the attraction without creating long lines in the final room where Guests are loaded onto their starships. The problem has been that Guests push and shove to make their way through each pre-show room.

Yesterday, September 27, 2025, it appeared that Disney was testing a new loading procedure to allow Guests using an Individual Lightning Lane to enter to the right side of a dividing rope with standby guests standing on the left side.

Guests shared that once doors opened for the second pre-show room, the right-hand side (Individual Lightning Lane Guests) were allowed to enter first and were instructed to stand on the right-hand side.

Later, the standby Guests were allowed to enter the second pre-show room on the left-hand side. This second pre-show room also had the dividing lines. At the end of the second pre-show, when the doors opened, the Guests in the right section of the room (Individual Lightning Lane Guests) exited first.

Still in testing phase

From Guest accounts, this pre-show testing took place both early on Saturday, September 27th and on Sunday, September 28th. When wait times increased, normal pre-show loading returned. It is interesting to see if Disney may implement a new loading pattern.

In my (Donna) opinion, this would be a welcome change as it can often become a bit chaotic while Guests try to push to the far right in the pre-shows to be able to enter the attraction first.
