Pin collecting can be fun, but lately, some collectors have noticed that a few things have gotten out of hand. Here is one way Disney is managing pin drops differently.

Disney Pin collectors love a chance to add fun limited-edition pins to their collections. However, it is not always an easy path!

Each Tuesday, Disney releases a new wave of limited-edition pins. Some of them are released exclusively in select locations around Walt Disney World or Disneyland. Others are released online. And, some appear both in stores and online.

As you can imagine, these pin releases are very popular. The online drops sell out in seconds! And, in person, rope dropping the pin locations has gotten a little wild. People have been observed breaking rules, such as running and cutting in line to try to grab the latest special pins.

A New Pin Policy

The way Disney has handled pin drop Tuesday is an ever-evolving process. And, now Disney has something new in place to manage the madness.

The latest change impacts Disney Springs in Walt Disney World. In the past, collectors could get a bit of an advantage if they entered Disney Springs via the rideshare lot near the Marketplace.

However, now Disney is evening the playing field for those entering via the parking garages. Cast Members lead guests to the bridge near the shop from both the parking garage and the ride share lot at the same time. Then, Cast Members handed out wristbands, alternating between the garage line and the rideshare line. The wristbands indicate which order the guests can enter the store.

Disney began testing wristbands several weeks ago. And now there is some measure of chaos control for the walk to the wristband handout.

Is This Change Permanent

This change seems like a reasonable solution for some guests, but it is, doubtless, undesirable for others. However, the pin trading game is ever evolving, so we may see additional changes in place in the coming weeks.

And for now, we have only seen wristbands in use at Disney Springs. Perhaps they will be utilized at the parks someday as well. Perhaps not.
