Reopening Date for Our Favorite Fantasyland Attraction

Although this attraction was closed longer than expected, we finally have a reopening date. Get ready to add this favorite to your touring plans.

Disney Refurbishment

There is never a good time for an attraction to close for a refurbishment, particularly when this refurbishment spans over several months.

In previous years, Disney has planned many refurbishments during the slower months of January and February. Unfortunately, not all work can be completed before heavy summer crowds

For special celebrations, Disney often plans to “polish up” some of its favorite classic attractions. We saw this ahead of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration back in 2021.

Fantasyland Reopening Date

Similarly, Disneyland has worked to bring new magic and a fresh look to many of its classic attractions for the 70th Anniversary celebrations. Although not an opening day attraction, the Matterhorn Bobsleds is a favorite attraction for many guests.

Matterhorn Bobsleds closed for refurbishment on May 8, 2025. This appeared to be for routine maintenance, and many hoped that this attraction would reopen by July 17th (the official opening day of Disneyland back in 1955).

The reopening misses this magical date by a week. The Matterhorn Bobsleds will reopen on July 24, 2025. The good news is that there are still many reasons to visit Disneyland on July 17th, even without whizzing throughout the icy caves of this magical mountain.

Matterhorn Bobsleds will reopen on July 24, 2025

“it’s a small world” will feature a new verse starting July 17, 2025. Written by Richard Sherman before he passed, “The Last Verse” can be enjoyed aboard “it’s a small world” and a short film, “Last Verse”, will be featured at Main Street Cinema. 

Guests will be able to see Walt Disney through the magic of Audio-Animatronics technology in ‘Walt Disney – A Magical Life,” also opening on July 17, 2025.
