The Walt Disney Company promised that they would preserve Muppet Vision for fans, and now Jim Henson’s family confirmed what this will look like. What do you think of this plan?
Muppet Vision 3D Closing

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has undergone many changes over the years. Muppet Vision 3D was the final major project that Jim Henson directed before he passed in 1990. It originally opened on May 16, 1991.
This film is special to many Muppet and Disney fans who have enjoyed it for several decades and as a final masterpiece created by Jim Henson. When Disney originally shared that the Muppet Courtyard would close to make room for a Monsters Inc.-themed land, this news was somewhat bittersweet.
Disney shared, “As we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.”
Muppet Vision Virtual Reality

Yesterday, June 14th, the Walt Disney Family Museum helped celebrate the Jim Henson Company’s 70th anniversary. During a panel discussion at this event Muppet fans were elated to the new details to preserve Muppet Vision 3D.
Lisa Henson, The Jim Henson Company CEO and daughter of Jim Henson, shared that Muppet Vision 3D may be preserved in Virtual Reality with devices such as Apple Vision Pro.
According to Henson, The Jim Henson Company and the Walt Disney Company have had discussions of addapting Muppet Vision 3D to Virtual Reailty. Henson confirmed that the show was documented with Virtual Reality cameras.
Preserving Muppet Vision 3D

The Walt Disney Company has not confirmed this collaboration, but it is great to hear that work is being completed to preserve this final work by Jim Henson.
Lisa Henson confirmed that Muppet Vision 3D may be preserved in Virtual Reality
We shared back in May that a special filming of Muppet Vision 3D was planned for Cast Members. It is possible that the Virtual Reality filming took place during this event. I (Donna) still have my fingers crossed that more will be done to preserve this film at the Disney Parks and even on Disney+.
