Disney World has confirmed all four theme parks are reopening after closing due to Hurricane Milton. See the official statement here.
Hurricane Milton
Hurricane Milton made landfall last night on October 9 as a Category 3 hurricane beginning in Siesta Key, Florida. It slowly made its way across the state well into the evening and early morning. Nearly 3 million residents in Florida were without power this morning.
All four theme parks at Walt Disney World and Disney Springs closed early yesterday afternoon. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party was also canceled for the night.
Universal Studios and other theme parks in the state also closed.
Reopening
Disney World has confirmed that the theme parks will be reopening after Hurricane Milton. They released the following statement:
“We’re grateful Walt Disney World Resort weathered the storm, and we are currently assessing the impacts to our property to prepare for reopening the theme parks, Disney Springs and possibly other areas on Friday, October 11. Our hearts are with our fellow Floridians who were impacted by this storm.” – Walt Disney World
Disney also stated that theme park hours currently on the website are based on normal operating hours. They may not reflect changes due to Hurricane Milton.
Orlando International Airport
Orlando Airport also ceased commercial operations due to the hurricane. This afternoon, the airport shared the following update:
“Although we’ll receive a few domestic arrivals this evening, no departures or international flights will occur. Please don’t come to the airport for a departing flight tonight. Departures begin tomorrow. Check with your airline for updates.” – Orlando International Airport
Departures will resume tomorrow, October 11, 2024. We are happy to see that the theme parks and airport will be returning to normal operation. Please remember to check with your airline first if you are leaving Florida tomorrow. We also send a thank you to all of the Cast Members who continued to work through the storm.
