If you’re a Star Wars fan, you will be excited to learn that one Star Wars experience has some happy changes! Will you be heading here on your next trip to Walt Disney World?
Tatooine Traders
Tatooine Traders is located outside of Galaxy’s Edge near the Star Tours attraction. You can find apparel, figurines, gadgets, books, and more celebrating all things Star Wars. This is also home to the budget-friendly light saber building experience.
If you’re hoping to have a light saber building experience without the expensive price tag, be sure to head over here! This is a great option for kids who are going to want to play with their light sabers.
Light sabers at Tatooine Traders are originally priced at $30 for the single blade and about $45 for the dual lightsaber. Discounts do apply, so be sure to use your Annual Pass if you have one!
Happy Changes
The light saber building experienced remained closed for a while after the parks reopened in July 2020. As with many other experiences, this requires a lot of hands-on touching from Guests.
When it reopened, there were a lot of changes that took place. Besides social distancing and mask wearing, Guests stood behind a rope to keep them from accessing the stations of pieces.
The pieces were also grouped together in a bin for that party to use. Once the Guest completed the lightsaber, the entire bin went back to a Cast Member who wiped each piece down. They had a few sets rotating so a fresh bin of supplies was ready to go for each new person.
You can read a review of that process HERE.
Now, the hands-on portion is back! Guests can simply walk up to the stations, dig through the pieces, and build their own light saber. There are still Cast Members around to help, but do note it may be a bit more chaotic.
I kind of liked the idea of having some space and special attention from the Cast Member, but this “new” (pre-pandemic) process allows you to work more at your own pace.
