An opening date has been set for one of Disney’s newest theme park additions! If you are a huge fan of Disney’s Zootopia, you will want to pay close attention to what is coming. You never know what’s in store for the future!
Disney’s Zootopia
Disney’s award winning film Zootopia was released in 2016. After its release, it went on to have huge global success, particularly in China. The film broke office records and became the country’s #1 animated feature film in film history.
Due to the large success of the film it’s easy to see why a land expansion for Zootopia was revealed. Disney announced in 2019 that it would open a new land devoted to Zootopia at Shanghai Disney Resort. If you think Shanghai is too far away from here in the United States and a visit isn’t in your plans, don’t lose hope.

A New Land and New Attraction
The eighth themed land at Shanghai Disney Resort will be the world’s first land themed for Disney’s Zootopia. Guests can step onto “Mane Street” and experience the busy, colorful world of Zootopia.
The new land also has a brand new attraction called, Zootopia: Hot Pursuit. The trackless attraction will take guests all throughout the world of Zootopia where they can “enjoy thrilling turns, spins, slides, and “drops” in this family-friendly attraction on a mission to rescue Gazelle from her kidnapper, Bellwether.”
Opening Date
We learned more details about the exciting new land expansion not too long ago, but Disney only shared a timeline for when they expected the land to open.
An opening date has finally been revealed! Zootopia will welcome guests at Shanghai Disney Resort on December 20, 2023.

The opening date of Disney’s Zootopia land will be exactly one month after the World of Frozen opens to guests on November 20th at Hong Kong Disneyland.
