Disney Projects

Walt Disney once said, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” Disney continues to implement that idea because change is inevitable in the parks.

There are constantly new projects, refurbishments, and closures. From new rides and restaurants to shows and characters, there is always something new to experience in the parks.

Comparatively speaking, Disneyland does not have the space to expand as much as Disney World does. However, that is not stopping Disney from expanding!

Disneyland Forward

The first we heard about Disneyland Forward was back in 2021. The Walt Disney Company hopes that this new expansion will not only help the Disneyland Resort but that it will also help to rebuild the economy of Anaheim.

These dreams hope to include an expansion of the theme parks, retail locations, and additional parking. Could we see more lands and attractions? We sure hope so!

The Disneyland Forward presentation included concept art (shown above) from Disney theme park projects around the globe offering “possibilities” of what future expansion could look like at the Disneyland resort. The projects presented included the Tangled, Frozen and Peter Pan themed lands coming to Tokyo Disneyland in Japan and the Zootopia themed land planned for Shanghai Disneyland in China.

The Immersive Theme Park westside expansion in the Disneyland Forward project envisions theme park attractions on the Downtown Disney and Lilo and Stitch parking lots woven amid the Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier Hotel.

They remained very quiet on this project until Disneyland President Ken Potrock shared a small update back in May.

New Concepts

The city of Anaheim released a “Supplemental Environmental Impact” report, which includes a few new drawings. It’s important to note these are just concepts showing what could happen, not what will happen.

However, it is definitely a fascinating report that really showcases the impact this expansion could have on the Disneyland Resort. As you can see in the photo below, most of the expansion occurs around (and even in between) Paradise Pier and Disneyland Hotel.

It seems likely the expansion would be accessible past Critter Country. But, I could also see them adding on past Pixar Pier in California Adventure, so both parks would receive new attractions. Or, this could have third-gate potential!

In addition, the renderings show there is room for several more rides with a mix of family and thrill – indoor and outdoor. I even see space for an outdoor show!

What’s even more fascinating is that the report also outlines two proposed crossings for pedestrians, and they specifically list the Skyliner and PeopleMover as examples! Again, these are all possibilities of what can be done with the space.

This is all very exciting! What would you like to see? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below, and pass this post along to a friend who may want to hear the latest!

I would.love Anaheim to allow to close disneyland drive entirely and make it a pedestrian walkway and entry to Disney along with the traditional esplanade entry modific Action with Disney east garage entry

Then connect both all the garages and esplanades with skyrider that allows easy transport between the hotels, parking , and entryways
