Just when you think you have seen it all, find out what caused the Carousel of Progress to come to a stop while guests enjoyed the show.
Carousel of Progress
“There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow!” I know you just sang those words in your head. Carousel of Progress is one of my favorite attractions in all of Walt Disney World, purely for the nostalgia factor.
Located in Tomorrowland, the attraction is a 20-minute show taking Guests through a journey of how technological advances affected average families throughout the 20th century. Walt Disney personally had a hand in creating this attraction for the 1964 World’s Fair in New York. After the fair was over in 1965, it moved to Disneyland for 6 years. The show finally made its home in Disney World where it has entertained and delighted Guests since 1975.
Last summer, Disney updated the final scene of the Carousel of Progress to the delight of fans. Check out this new update HERE.
Unexpected Guest
There is no height or age limit for this attraction, but guests are told beforehand that this is a rotating theatre and that they will be expected to remain seated for the full 20-minute show. The revolving theatre is situated on a carousel that rotates guests around the stage. With lightning and animatronics, this show delights guests on repeat throughout the day without any interruptions.
Well, maybe not without any interruptions. Recently, mouse_rules shared a video on Instagram of a surprise in the 1940s. A squirrel scampered in and began crawling up the scrim of the 1940s scene.
According to mouse_rules, they had to stop the entire show to remove this squirrel from the attraction. There might be a “Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow”, but this little furry friend wouldn’t be able to see how this show ends.
A squirrel could be seen climbing the scrim of Carousel of Progress in the 1940s scene.
This unexpected guest definitely added a surprise to this show. The Carousel of Progress actors never even let it phase them (ha).
What do you think of this unexpected surprise? Has wildlife surprised you on a trip to the Disney Parks? Share your experience and share this humorous surprise with a fellow Disney pal.

Old news. This has been around the internet for a couple of weeks, at least, now.
