As Walt Disney once said, "We keep moving forward," and that is very true at Walt Disney World. At Disney's Animal Kingdom, DinoLand USA will soon become extinct to make way for a new experience with Tropical Americas, offering a brand new Indy attraction, a new carousel, and an Encanto attraction.

Disney's Hollywood Studios underwent many changes this summer with 2 brand new shows: "Disney Villains Unfairly Ever After" and "The Little Mermaid-A Musical Adventure"Early Entry has also changed a bit at Disney's Hollywood Studios due to "Cool Kid Summer" activities.

The layout of Disney's Hollywood Studios also changed with the closing of the Muppet Courtyard in early June to make room for a new Monsters Inc. Land. Where guests can stroll along the streets of Monstropolis among their favorite "scarers".

The Disney Parks take the anthem of "Keep Moving Forward" quite literally when it comes to closures in the Parks. Yesterday was the final day to enjoy a nostalgic portion of Magic Kingdom that was often overlooked by guests: the Rivers of America.

As Walt Disney World warned yesterday, July 6th, was the final final day to enjoy both Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat.

Today, the entire Rivers of America is missing on the My Disney Experience map of Magic Kingdom. This entire area is completely filled with grass (as featured above). The route for the Walt Disney World Railroad is also altered to show that it is now simply a shuttle between Main Street Station and Fantasyland Station only.

Magic Kingdom also released a brand new map available at the Park entrance. This new map also shows the removal of the Rivers of America.

There are BIG changes coming to Magic Kingdom with the new Villains Land and the new Cars-themed Piston Peak National Park.

Yesterday, Disney warned that it was the last day to enjoy Rivers of America as this closing would make way " for the largest expansion in history at Magic Kingdom."

  1. Disney can keep their Piston peak crap. I have no interest in this. They have ruined Liberty Square

    1. This was a hard closure for me as well. The fact that Walt Disney himself designed Tom Sawyer Island at Disneyland, and now this bit of magic was closed at Walt Disney World, was a tough blow.

  2. My heart breaks every time I think of the changes Disney is making or has made to Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer's Island, and Frontierland. Walt Disney was a genius. It disappointing and very sad that the current cast of senior leaders at Disney either do not see this or can not allow themselves to agree with this statement.

    1. I agree with you! This space was designed by Walt Disney to give guests the opportunity to explore. It is disappointing that Disney execs just want to fill it with another attraction to wait in line for.
