A Character Meal Returns!

Walt Disney World has been gradually returning to normal since the shutdown that came with the pandemic. We are seeing more and more beloved experiences come back. One of these is the Chip ‘n’ Dale Harvest Feast Breakfast at Garden Grill.

Garden Grill is a Table-Service restaurant in the Land Pavillion in EPCOT. It is a unique restaurant that rotates and gives diners views of the Living with the Land attraction as they enjoy meals and character interactions with Farmer Mickey, Chip, Dale, and Pluto!

The Garden Grill Breakfast returned with a brand new menu on June 14, 2023! I (Katie) was there on re-opening day with my family to enjoy Chip ‘n’ Dale Harvest Feast and all the fun character interactions.

Pricing for breakfast is $42 per adult, plus tax and gratuity. The price is $27 per child (Ages 3-9), plus tax and gratuity.

Here is an honest review of the new menu and the experience as a whole. From daring characters to good food and a unique location, this may be one of the most well-rounded breakfasts in Walt Disney World.

Check-In

Check-in was a breeze in the My Disney Experience App. When we checked in, we were invited to request a table preference: either a booth or a table. My family prefers the booths because they are on the front row of the restaurant, and they face the Living with the Land Attraction.

We got a text that our table was ready almost immediately. Our hottest showed us to a booth as requested, complete with a fun hidden Mickey, and breakfast was served!

A New Menu

If you Loved the Garden Grill character breakfast before, you should brace yourself for changes. The reopening of the Chip ‘n’ Dale Harvest Feast brought with it a new menu. You may love some and others may be a little less welcome.

But, remember, menus are ever-evolving at Walt Disney World, so perhaps the things you think you will miss most will make their way back eventually. After all, we have seen fan pushback spark change on more than one occasion.

Beverage Selection

As it is with most Disney restaurants, diners can enjoy soft drinks, water, milk, lemonade, or juice. We were delighted to find that POG was on the menu! If you want some POG with breakfast, know that Garden Grill is on the list of restaurants that serve it.

You can also order coffee and/or tea if you need a pick-me-up. And, our server allowed us to have both POG and hot tea if we wished.

Fruit

A meal at Garden Grill once began with a bowl of fresh fruit such as pineapple, melon, and various berries. Now, it begins with a platter of fresh watermelon slices.

The watermelon slices we were served were fresh, crisp, cool, and perfect for a hot summer’s morning, The heat index was 100 degrees, so even at 9 am, we were grateful for a cool, refreshing treat. This was truly some really delicious watermelon.

My family was a bit divided on whether we preferred the old fruit salad or the new watermelon slices. Both are delicious, and whether you will like this particular change depends on whether you are fond of watermelon.

It is also possible the fruit selection will change seasonally, as is a trend lately. Let us know if you see different selections!

The NEW Bread Service

If you ever dined at Garden Grill in the past, you might remember Chip’s Sticky Bun Bake that was served with breakfast fondly. The bun was essentially a huge cinnamon roll in a skillet.

Now, it has been replaced with A Cinnamon Breakfast Loaf. It is sweet and sticky and yummy. It reminds me of “monkey bread.” I thought it had a similar flavor profile to the sticky bun, which was served previously. However, my children were very disappointed in the substitution. They preferred Chip’s Sticky Bun Bake.

The NEW Skillet

We had just finished tasting the Cinnamon Breakfast Loaf when the skillet arrived! It was full of scrambled eggs, bacon, and Mickey Waffles – classics from the old menu. We enjoyed all of them, as always.

The skillet also had some newcomers. For one thing, they replaced the potato barrels that were previously served with Cheesy Potato Casserole. I enjoyed this change. It is essentially a cheesy, creamy hashbrown casserole. It had lots of flavor and tastes like good old-fashioned comfort food.

My kids didn’t miss the potato barrels until I pointed out the change. They said they would have rather had the tots.

Next, Grilled Flank Steak with Ranchero Sauce was a welcome addition to the skillet. All of us enjoyed it. It is definitely a fantastic upgrade to the previous offerings.

The flavor was dynamic, and the sauce was bright and not overly spicy. The addition of the steak is my favorite Disney menu change in recent memory. It adds a bit more value to the meal than standard bacon and sausage.

Things We Missed

Credit: KtP Writer Christina

We did miss 2 things that are gone with no replacements. One of these is the salsa that was once served as an accompaniment to the scrambled eggs. It was typically said to be made with ingredients grown on Living with the Land. However, the Ranchero Sauce on the steak is likely the replacement for the salsa.

The other missing menu item is the Nutella Chocolate Ganache that accompanied the Mickey Waffles. On Garden Grill’s re-opening day, breakfast was served with butter and syrup. We asked the server about the ganache, and he said sadly, it was unavailable. But, he also said that doesn’t mean it will never come back. Hopefully, this waffle topping does eventually make its way back as it is delicious!

Overall

Chip ‘n’ Dale Harvest Feast breakfast at Garden Grill remains a delight! Although we do miss a few things from the old menu, the new items are all tasty, and the addition of the steak is a welcomed improvement that boosts the value of the meal. Everything was delicious, and everyone in my travel party left full and happy and ready to take on the parks!

Also, you cannot beat the proximity to Soarin’ and Living with the Land. We enjoyed being able to tour the Land Pavillion both before and after breakfast!

Do you work for Disney lol? We went on opening day and literally nothing was as good as it used to be.

No. If I did, I'd have them bring back the old cinnamon bun, the Ganache, and the salsa. :)
