Last December, Disney announced that the Grand Floridian lobby will undergo a refurbishment to bring it up to speed with the room refresh, new Enchanted Rose lounge, and reimagined Citricos.
The resort has been receiving some grand touches that weave familiar storybook charm into the Victorian elegance of this flagship resort. Guest rooms are currently being updated as we speak with more to come as the beloved Grand Floridian ushers in its third decade of magic. The ongoing renovation will also include an upcoming refurbishment of the lobby, which will maintain the classic theming you know and love with some fresh new enhancements.
Guests have noticed the construction this year and this has affected the walkway to the Magic Kingdom, and also alternative parking for guests with a dining reservation at the Grand Floridian.
Lobby Construction
As promised, work is now underway at the elegant Grand Floridian lobby. Many Disney guests may agree that one of the main reasons to stay at the Grand Floridian is the elegant lobby. This resort lobby is home to the grand gingerbread house during the holidays and the Easter Cottage in the spring.
Guests enjoy soaking up the classic charm of this resort in the lobby, but this may not be quite as charming as work is now underway. In true Disney fashion, construction walls are now in place in the resort lobby as work is taking place.
It appears that about a third of the lobby is blocked off. Disney shares, “Guests will be able to see and hear construction during daytime hours.”

At this time an end date is not announced for this lobby refurbishment. No photos were released by Disney for this refurbishment, but it sounds like the lobby will remain with the classic whites and ivories and not the shades of blue we are seeing elsewhere.
