Bumpy Start To The Day

The day started out a little shaky for some Disney World systems, and it looks like the weather could add some issues today in the Orlando area. Make sure to keep an eye out for potential storms that could alter your plans.

An area of low pressure over the Southeast U.S. will push a warm front through Central Florida this morning. This system is the same one responsible for the unsettled weather over the region the last few days. As the warm front moves through, we should see clearing skies and some sunshine this morning.

You can see on the map above the low over and the warm front in red moving northward through Florida. The flow around the front, combined with a sea breeze front approaching from the west off the Gulf of Mexico will set up a collision of sorts over Central Florida.

This will lead to showers and thunderstorms developing this afternoon. The best chance to see scattered showers and thunderstorms is from 1:00PM-7:00PM today.

Severe Weather Possible

Some of the showers and thunderstorms have the potential to reach severe criteria today in Central Florida. The map above is from the Storms Prediction Center, highlighting where the severe weather is the highest.

Even if some of the storms do not meet the severe criteria, remember that any thunderstorm can produce gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours. Follow any warnings and cast member directions to take shelter.

Looking Ahead

Overnight tonight things will begin to clear out for the Orlando area. Thankfully, Friday will be partly cloudy with just a few isolated showers possible. Saturday looks clear with no rain expected.

Shower and thunderstorm chances return to the forecast for Sunday as another system approaches the region. Highs through Sunday will be in the upper 80’s.
