Disney is preparing for the busy holiday season! They may even surprise us with more character meets. Here is what we know.

Busy Holiday Season

The week before and after Christmas is historically one of the busiest times of the year to visit. Many Guests look to spend their winter break at the Most Magical Place on Earth. With pent up travel demand and the 50th anniversary celebrations, it may be even busier than normal.

Orlando Airport is also anticipating several heavy travel days within the next two weeks. Even Disney knows to prepare for big crowds! Last year, they made many changes to accommodate the crowds including an increase in Early Theme Park Entry, moving some ILLS attractions over to Genie+ and extending park hours.

Just recently Disney added more showtimes, and now they may add more spontaneous meet and greets!

Surprise Characters

Gaston has been meeting in Fantasyland for the last few weeks. He does not have a schedule on My Disney Experience which leads us to believe Disney wants this to be more spontaneous and unplanned.

Cinderella also spontaneously greeted Guests this week as well. She has a dedicated meet and greet location and schedule over at Fairytale Hall, but people also spotted her walking down Main Street and meeting in Snow White’s spot at Town Square.

Disneyland has many of these spontaneous meet and greets. It is so magical and fun to run into a character, but it can make planning a bit hard. Perhaps Disney World is trying to do the same?

With the holiday crowds beginning to come this week and stay for the rest of the month, Disney will need plenty of entertainment to keep Guests occupied. Wait times will be very high, so by having extra showtimes and more characters around, Disney can keep Guests out of attraction lines for a bit.
