Toy Story is one franchise that many people, including myself (Maggie), have grown up with. The films became so popular among children and adults.

Everyone loves seeing the adventures of Andy’s toys come to life. The franchise has also became an opportunity for Disney to expand on the storyline in recent years. Toy Story of Terror and many other shorts like Lamp Life and Forky Asks a Question have brought us new stories and entertainment to enjoy.

Disney and Pixar’s latest film, Lightyear was released to theaters on June 17, 2022. Based on the origins of Buzz Lightyear, the actual hero not the toy, Lightyear reveals how a young pilot became the Space Ranger we know and love.

Captain America star Chris Evans voiced “the original Buzz Lightyear”.

The film has received rather positive reviews overall, but many have criticized it as some people, including stars like Tim Allen and Tom Hanks, have said the storyline was a little confusing and it just wasn’t the Buzz that we were hoping to see.

Coming to Disney+

If you had any doubts about going to the actual theater to see the film but still want to see it, you are in luck!

Lightyear will begin streaming on Disney+ beginning August 3rd.

That’s pretty quick! I (Maggie) saw the film with my two young boys. While the film does not even come close to as being as good as the original Toy Story films, I thought it was enjoyable enough. If you can accept the fact that it’s definitely NOT Buzz from Toy Story and actually who he is based on, you might enjoy it. I can say that Sox, the robot cat, stole the film and he was my favorite part of the movie.

  1. Disney not using Tim Allen’s voice is not what most critics of the movie disapproved of and subsequently it was a flop at the box office with jurassic Park ticket sales sweeping opening weekend and minions the following weekend.
