Walt Disney was truly an inspiration to many. A new design element will share Walt Disney’s dream for EPCOT in this new location.
EPCOT
Back in November, Disney shared a new restaurant would open at Epcot. Epcot’s new restaurant will be located in World Celebration. It will sit just outside of Creations Shop, Epcot’s newly re-imagined flagship gift shop.
The restaurant will be called Connections Café and Eatery. Josh D’amaro stated that, “It is going to be incredibly cool.” The idea of the cafe is that it brings people together around the common unifier of food. Every design element will work together to tell a story.
We are excited for the opening of this new location and this will even house a new Starbucks location. Now one design element is revealed that will truly share Walt Disney’s dream for EPCOT with all Guests.
New Design
As the days progress to the opening of Connections Cafe’ and Eatery, we enjoy all of the exciting updates. Today Disney Imagineer, Zach Riddley, shares a special tribute to the vision that Walt Disney first had for EPCOT.
Riddley shares on Instagram, “EPCOT is full of iconic shape language that evokes grand ideas about cities, innovation and the potential for design to make the world a better, more integrated place. These iconic EPCOT designs were evident as far back as Walt’s original site plans for the Florida project, where EPCOT was to serve as the literal and conceptual “center” of Walt Disney World, where one could live, learn and experience innovations that would later come to define everyday life as we know it.”
“EPCOT has never stopped evolving – what Walt foresaw as a constant “state of becoming.” To this day, Imagineers continue to draw inspiration from those original concepts and ideas for the park throughout the current transformation.”
“Today I’m proud to reveal a pretty cool example of this, in its own state of becoming as we speak. In the new Connections Café and Eatery, guests will discover detailed flooring designs that pay homage to the radial layout and celebrate the purposeful geometry and organic symmetry of EPCOT.

“These designs are created with a sustainable bio-polymer material which is 3-D printed to provide an intricate template. That linework is then laid out by skilled craftspeople to create inlays in the poured flooring material, with the final design revealed through rounds of sanding and buffing, where classic and cutting-edge techniques meet.”

We can’t wait to see this beautiful design in person. Walt Disney World has not yet released an opening date for this dining location but stated that it will open later this spring.
