Changes to exclusive event at Disney World

Disney hosts several exclusive events every year, and one has finally returned for the first time since the parks reopened. However, there are some changes to be aware of!

DVC Moonlight Magic

Disney Vacation Club offers many benefits on top of just owning rents to use for room accommodations. Moonlight Magic is a super fun perk that allows DVC members (and their guests) a late evening in the parks. Take a look at the announcement HERE.

Tonight’s event takes place at Epcot from 10:00 pm to 1:00 am, and the event is villains themed! This means those lucky enough to attend (including our favorite pirate!) will see some rare characters that don’t pop up often.

This is the first event since before the parks closed in March 2020. There are some adjustments to note, because just like everything at Disney World, nothing is quite the same as it used to be.

Meal voucher changes

Previously, attendees received meal voucher cards that were good for quick-service restaurants in the park. Instead, Disney is handing out a free DVC popcorn tub tonight along with two snack vouchers. Prior to 9:00 pm, they can be redeemed at participating food and beverage locations including festival outdoor kitchens, sides at quick-service restaurants, plus other treats with the DDP logo next to them.

Disney is now giving out two snack vouchers instead of meal vouchers.

During the event, which begins at 10:00, you can redeem your snack vouchers at popcorn carts near Creations Shop, Imagination!, the Canada Pavilion, and Test Track. You can also redeem snack vouchers at Sunshine Seasons and Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe.

There are additional offerings available for purchase at Sunshine Seasons like the specialty Pluto cake as well as treats at Joffrey’s.

Characters

Of course, one of the main draws of Moonlight Magic is the chance to meet and interact with very rare characters. This year it remains to be seen what will happen with social distancing and characters, but the event pamphlet says character sightings not character meets.

Additionally, you can see in the photo below that there is a barrier staged, which likely means close interactions will not be possible. We will be sure to report if hugs and/or autographs are allowed at the event tonight.

Find villains throughout Epcot at World Celebration near Imagination!, World Discovery near Test Track, and around the World Showcase. It is sure to be a fun night and I’m not at all jealous that Kenny is there tonight (sarcasm).

Characters will remain a surprise until the event starts!

There is a DJ located in the World Showcase plaza and musicians on the Canada Mill stage.

Transportation

Bus service will run from Epcot until 2:00 am. Skyliner service is available until 2:00 am BUT with the following stipulations. The Skyliner is only running to Riviera and Caribbean Beach tonight. To return to Pop Century and Art of Animation, you will need to use the bus from the main entrance.

Additionally, boat service will run until 1:30 am.
