Need to stay near the Orlando Airport? Is it worth staying at The Hyatt Regency? Here’s our full review.

Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport

Over the holiday season my (Marisol) family flew into the Orlando International Airport and had a one night stay at the Hyatt Regency located inside the airport.

The Hyatt Regency is extremely convenient in more ways than one as it allows travelers to the Orlando airport many opportunities like watching airplane runways, plenty or dining options, and even shopping such as the Disney Store!

The Hyatt Regency is minutes away from many theme park attractions, the Orange County Convention Center on International Drive as well as Port Canaveral for cruises.

For this particular stay at the Hyatt Regency, our family chose to stay at the hotel because of the ease of being able to take the Disney Cruise Line motor coach for our cruise the following day.

In all honesty, when I had made reservations, for some reason, I was certain that I had made them for the Hyatt Regency. However, I learned a couple of days before arrival that I had accidentally booked the wrong hotel!

Luckily, there had been many cancellations the night before our flight. I was able to secure a room at the Hyatt Regency, and I’m so thankful I was able to do so as we were arriving on Saturday, December 18, 2021 which was the busiest traveling day of the year at MCO!

Amenities

There are many different amenities available at the Hyatt Regency. For example, the rooftop pool offers great views under the blue skies of Orlando.

Our flight into MCO arrived late at night and our priority at the moment was food, so we unfortunately missed out on the nice rooftop pool which we could see from the balcony of our hotel room.

Starting January 5th thru Feb 5th the Pool and Pool Deck will be closed with NO Guest Access. From Feb 6th thru March 13th Pool and Pool Deck will have Limited Access. Guest can use the Hyatt Place Orlando International Airport Outdoor Pool located 3 miles away. Shuttles will be available to and from the Hyatt Place.

Did I already mention that we were starving? Right after check in, we were informed that we could call in our order from the dining room within the hotel, McCoy’s, for room service.

Located on the lobby level, McCoy’s Bar & Grill offers a wide range variety of cuisines which even includes fresh sushi. I enjoyed this tasty dish! For guests waiting to catch a flight, the Lobby Bar serves refreshing cocktails until midnight daily. McCoy’s To-Go is available daily from 7:00 AM – midnight.

Hemisphere Restaurant is the second restaurant on property that is located on the 9th floor of the hotel. However, at the moment it is closed and set to reopen in early 2022.

Location and Check In

As you can see from the picture above, the opening to the Hyatt Regency is extremely narrow. It can easily be missed and guests could walk by without releasing where the entrance is! The hotel lobby and registration itself is located on the 4th floor.

At the time we checked in, there was no line. However, the line to take the elevator to our room was at least 20 people deep. The nice gentleman at check in offered to take us personally to the management team’s private elevator.

The airport and TSA security checkpoint is located on the 3rd level and steps away from the entrance to the Hyatt Regency.

Location, location, location certainly rings true to this phrase when staying as a guest at the Hyatt Regency!

Another favorite perk of staying at this particular hotel is that you can enjoy the beautiful elegant Christmas tree that stands tall in the middle of the atrium on the airport level during Christmastime.

Guests who have views of the airport and security lines can take in the sights of the beautiful Christmas tree during the holiday season!

Our Bedroom Tour

I cannot write a review of a hotel without discussing the very room where we stayed! The room that was available to book was a 2 Queen Bed with ADA shower. The cost of the room was $329.

The 360 square foot room included the following amenities:

  • Roll-in shower
  • Atrium or airport views
  • Cordless phone
  • 65″ Flat Screen TV w/ Closed-captions available
  • Lower level closet shelves, light switches, towel racks, and more
  • Wider bathroom doors
  • Raised toilet seat
  • Emergency strobe light and strobe light smoke detectors upon request
  • Luxury skin and hair care amenities from Pharmacopia
  • Hair dryer
  • Coffeemaker
  • Two complimentary bottles of water
Credit: Marisol

Please excuse the messy beds and miscellaneous items scattered around the room! I took many of the pictures the morning of checkout because when we first arrived to the room, we were exhausted and, as mentioned before, starving!

There was plenty of room in the bathroom for us to get ready the morning of checkout.

The luxury skin and hair care amenities from Pharmacopia were very nice compared to some others that I have had at other hotels.

The beds were quite nice to sleep on as none of us complained about pillow fluffiness or mattress firm concerns!

All in all, it was what we needed to receive a good night’s rest before embarking on our adventures the following day!

In fact, I find myself a frantic mess the morning of any trip because I want to make sure that everything goes with ease in terms of having two kids, a husband and luggage in tow.

As many would agree, just reading the last sentence gives many people the chills and traumatic vivid memories!

However, all that tension was transferred over to another adventure that I will explain in my Disney Cruise article series on embarkation day at the port!

Reasons to Book at the Hyatt Regency

Credit: Marisol

The best reason for booking and staying at the Hyatt Regency before our cruise was definitely the availability of being able to walk a short distance with an elevator ride with our luggage straight to Terminal B, first floor, where the Disney Cruise Line Welcome Desk is located.

In a future article, I will provide more information regarding information and pricing on taking the Disney Cruise Line transportation service from Orlando International Airport to the cruise terminal at Port Canaveral.

Another wonderful perk that not many people know about for the Hyatt Regency is that guests can book a special day-use rate. Have a later flight after enjoying theme parks, cruising or whatever else brought you to Orlando? The Hyatt Regency has your back!

Recharge for a few hours between flights at MCO’s only in-airport hotel. We offer special day-use rates to enjoy hotel benefits like the pool, fitness center, restaurant, and room service without staying overnight. Day-use rooms are the perfect solution for fly-in, fly-out conferences and daytime layovers.

Hours: 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., daily, based on availability

Our family took advantage of the day-use pass after a different cruise a couple years ago, and it was wonderful as we were able to relax in the room and take a nap before catching our late flight home!

As you can see from my stay at the Hyatt Regency hotel it is well worth the price to stay here.

We look forward to our next stay! Have you ever stayed at the Hyatt Regency hotel at MCO or taken advantage of the day-use pass? Let us know in the comments on Facebook and in our Facebook group.

Stayed at Hyatt MCO a while back. Enjoyed it as a recovery from being at Disney for 2 weeks. Staying again in a few months. Can't wait. .

We have stayed at the Hyatt Regency when catching a very early flight - the first flight of the day. One caveat - you really need to be able to handle your own luggage. We set up an appointment with bell services for a certain time, and they showed up an hour early! Like 4 am instead of 5 am. They said that if they left, they weren't coming back, so we scrambled to get dressed and get the final bags packed. With 2 small kids, it was kind of crazy! But, the hotel was nice .

I love staying at the Hyatt Regency after a long transatlantic flight. That way, we can catch a good nights sleep and then pick up the Turo rental car refreshed in the morning. Even though it's just a short ride to WDW, I just feel safer to not do the drive jetlagged.

Another plus (although pretty pricey) is the great breakfast buffet at Hemispheres. Hopefully, it will be open again when we stay there again in May.

For dinner, we usually try one of the many restaurants in the airport and after dinner it is fun to walk around and look at the shops.
