Cavalcades replaced traditional parades when the parks reopened in July 2020. While cavalcades are fun and exciting, many of us miss the longer Magic Kingdom parade: Festival of Fantasy. I (Monica) caught one of the final performances in late February 2020, and we are so excited that Festival of Fantasy will return soon!

Currently, we have another full parade just for the holiday season: Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade. It is the first full parade since Disney World temporarily closed!

Although many performers and floats were cut from the show, it has been a wonderful addition to the Very Merriest After Hours event.

The Christmas parade combines so much of what we love about Christmas at Disney: music, characters, and snoap! The event runs until December 21 and features the Christmas parade as well as Christmas fireworks, low wait times, and the new stage show.

Right now, the parade only has showtimes during Very Merriest, so if you want to see it you have to purchase tickets. However, that will soon change!

Daytime Performances

Guests will soon get to see Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade during regular park hours! Beginning December 22, get a spot early so you can catch one of the performances at either 12:00 pm or 3:45 pm. On December 30 and 31, the second parade will take place at 3:30 pm.

The daytime performances will end on December 31 which is great for such a busy time at Disney World. The week between Christmas and New Year is historically the busiest time of the year, so this will help entertain Guests.

What a special treat for those who are visiting after Very Merriest After Hours concludes!
