If you are like me, you may have been hoping for parades and fireworks to return to normal for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. While fireworks are back (and we are so excited for the new show!), parades will not return until Christmas.

So, what is the solution? Disney World introduced cavalcades last July with the reopening of the parks. Various cavalcades, which are basically mini parades, take place throughout the parks. Epcot has removed theirs with distanced meets instead.

However, the cavalcades are still a great way to see some of your favorite characters while meets are temporarily unavailable.

Disney World couldn’t celebrate its 50th birthday without a cavalcade! Knowing there are special Halloween and Christmas ones, we expected to have a special one for the 50th if we couldn’t have a parade.

Disney shared a first look of the costumes that Mickey, Minnie, and friends are wearing around the parks and in the cavalcade. The EARidescent looks are so pretty and completely different from the last special outfits they received: Mickey’s 90th birthday outfit.

So let’s take a look at what you can expect to see on this extra magical cavalcade when you visit Disney World for the 50th!

Performance Start

When you hear the loud music start you know a cavalcade is coming! You may not recognize the new song Disney released for the 50th anniversary: “The Magic is Calling”. Just know when you hear the music start up it’s time to find your spot on the sidewalk!

The cavalcade starts with performers dancing with streamers in purple, blue, and white costumes.

First Float

The first float comes by with Goofy and Pluto in the front and Minnie at the top. The float is blue with gold designs along with gold rails and steps. The purple is a nice touch and ties everything in together for the 50th color scheme. The side reads Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade.

Poor Pluto only gets a new collar, but Goofy and Minnie’s outfits are stunning! On the back of the float are more performers (without streamers).

In between the floats are more performers.

Second Float

Next up is an even bigger float with Daisy and Donald Duck in the front. I love that there are two vehicles being used to incorporate more characters.

Mickey is at the very top, and he sure does look handsome! This float has more of the earidescent shimmering that we are using to seeing by now. More blue, gold, and purple accents let you know you are definitely watching the special 50th cavalcade. There is a giant bow and a 50 medallion.

They make for fun pictures, but Mickey is not as noticeable as the other characters because he is not eye-level with Guests standing on sidewalks.

Bringing up the rear is Chip & Dale in their special earidescent vests.

Other Cavalcades

The special 50th cavalcade is not the only mini parade running in Magic Kingdom! You can still see the “party” float that debuted last July with the bright colors and polka dots. However, we saw Clarabelle, Max, and the 3 Caballeros so no word yet if the Mickey and Minnie one is still running.

Additionally, we also saw Tinker Bell and the Princesses during our visit, so if you have not seen those yet they are not going anywhere!

What do you think of the new outfits in action? Do you love the cavalcade or wish we had a parade instead? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook.
