Today, the Disney Parks Blog announced tie-ins for the Raya and the Last Dragon film for Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Raya and the Last Dragon

Raya and the Last Dragon is a new film from Walt Disney Animation Studios.

As we learned on “Investor Day,” the film will be available to view in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access on March 5, 2021.

Check out the trailer for the movie here.

The film follows titular character Raya as she searches for the last dragon amid threats from sinister monsters called the Druun. It takes place “long ago” in a fantasy world where humans and dragons once peacefully co-existed.

Animation Experience

Some of our readers may be familiar with the Animation Experience at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

Climb aboard the Wildlife Express Train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch to find the class. Watch out for those lengthy wait times! Hopefully that was a one-off.

Beginning on February 22, guests will be drawing characters from the new film!

Sand Sculpture

Meanwhile, on the Discovery Island stage, professional sculptors will be working on a 40 ton sand sculpture.

The sculpture will feature Raya and her faithful companion “Tuk Tuk,” who is described as part pill bug, part pug. It will also have the last dragon, Sisu, and a mischievous thieving trio of Ongi.

It will take two talented sculptors more than two days to work on the piece. You can see them in action from February 19-21. The sculpture will remain on display through the end of March.

Rebecca, Kenny, and the Crew - I am so glad to see Disney will be offering this in theaters as well as Disney+. I do not have cable (a money-saving choice) so cannot do Disney+, but will gladly go to a theater. I missed Soul because it did not come to a theater. If you talk to any Disney bigwigs, please let them know there are fans who want theatrical releases! Thank you so much for all you do. I love your contests, even though I thought Garden Grill should have won for best restaurant.
