One of the most talked about feature pools in all of Disney World is undergoing refurbishment. Now, that refurbishment is anticipated to last even longer.

Disney’s BoardWalk Resort

Yes, Stormalong Bay is one of the best feature pools in all of Disney. However, Disney’s BoardWalk Resort is home to one of the most unique and talked about pools.

You either love it or are totally creeped out by it, but the Luna Park Pool is home to the infamous creepy clown slide! Susan and I stayed at the BoardWalk Villas in July for the reopening of Disney World, and we both immediately fell in love with the resort and pool.

The resort is so charming and full of stories (nanny chairs, anyone?). The pool itself has a bit of a following – we quickly found out why! Not only was it so fun but it’s also fun to scare our friends with talk and photos of the spaghetti-o hair clown.

Luna Park Pool Refurbishment

Disney announced the feature pool would undergo refurbishment in early October, although the pool itself would remain open. The slide (official name: Keister Coaster) is the only portion that is unusable at the pool. We have seen some very sad photos of the clown being taken away in pieces.

While we don’t know if the clown will return, we remain hopeful he will come back! Okay, only a few of us do. Some of you are totally fine with him not returning.

Originally, work was supposed to be completed by the end of October. However, an update to the Disney World website shows an extension.

Luna Park Pool at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort may look a little funny as work takes place on the Keister Coaster waterslide. We expect the waterslide to be available again before the end of 2020—though dates are subject to change.

Work in the pool area will continue through the end of this year. Luna Park Pool, as well as 2 leisure pools at this Resort hotel, will remain open during this refurbishment.

Other Disney World Refurbishments

Several other attractions are closed for refurbishment. PeopleMover, Liberty Square Riverboat, and Tom Sawyer Island are all closed.

Over in EPCOT, Frozen Ever After is closed as well. Don’t worry, it’s a pretty short closure!
