Back in December 2024, Bluey fans got a huge announcement! We found out that the beloved animated TV series would be getting its own feature-length film!

Disney acquired the global theatrical rights to create a Bluey film! The film will be created under the Disney Banner.

The movie comes to theatres in August 2027. And now you can watch the teaser trailer.

Bluey fans are staunchly divided in their response to the trailer. Many were taken aback to find that the movie strays away from 2D animation.

The Bluey movie is a CG-animated feature. The team is drawing on the talents of producer Amber Naismith (Happy Feet and Lego Movie) and co-director Richard Jeffery (Bluey Season 1-3) to bring it to life.

The fans who are unhappy about the shift in animation style maintain that part of the show's appeal is the simplicity of the 2D animation. Needless to say, they do not support the change one bit.

Even though its animation style differs from the series,  this film will be written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm. While Disney will own the rights, the film is a Ludo Studio production in collaboration with BBC Studios. So, from a storytelling standpoint, it is set up to maintain at least some of the show's unique charm that we have all fallen in love with.

The film looks as if it will be delightful if you can get past the stylistic change. And I (Kate) suspect most children won't mind. They just want to see more Bluey.
