Disney Reveals First Look at the New Simpsons Movie

It's been nearly 2 decades since The Simpsons movie introduced the world to Spider Pig. Now, a sequel is officially on the horizon!

The Simpsons is the longest-running sitcom in the history of American television. The show has run for 37 seasons.

Season 38 airs on September 27, 2026. Plus, the show has already been renewed for a 39th and 40th season.

Because of the show's longevity, Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart, and Maggie likely make up one what is likely of the most recognizable TV families in the world. They even have their own feature-length movie, which was released in 2007.

The New Simpsons Movie

It has been nearly 20 years since the first Simpsons movie came out. For a long time, there were rumblings that there might be a sequel.

After the movie's release, the chalkboard gag for the 19th season premiere was, "I will not wait 20 years to make another movie." Now, it almost seems as if the New Simpsons Movie release date is part of a chalkboard joke 20 years in the making.

The New Simpsons movie was announced in 2025. Its release date is set for July 23, 2027. The first was released worldwide on July 27, 2007. If the new movie releases in time, it will be just a few days shy of the 20-year mark.

A Sneak Peek

Disney released a first look at details for the new Simpsons Movie at D23, the ultimate Disney fan event. While the plot is still a secret, Disney did show an in-progress clip of the movie.

The scene happens at an Isotopes game when Homer and other Springfield residents try to catch a baseball that reaches the stands. The scene quickly turns into a chase around the stadium and through Springfield. I won't spoil how the scene turns out, but it is in keeping with the tone of the series. Perhaps this one will be worth the wait for Simpsons fans.
