Every year, fans of Disney Parks delight in the magic of the Holidays. Some people love experiencing premium extras like the Christmas Party.

But others enjoy making a tradition of soaking up the magic that is all around. And some of that magic lies in Disney's impressive Gingerbread displays.

The most famous of these is the Gingerbread House at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The display drew crowds each year who came to see it, take photos, and purchase exclusive gingerbread goodies.

The End of an Era

After 25 years, the era of the Grand Floridian Gingerbread house is coming to an end. Technically, one could say that the tradition ended last year. The house did not go up due to construction in the lobby in 2025.

Sadly, this year, Disney has no plans for the Gingerbread house to return in 2026. There are no plans for it to return moving forward, either. It is time to say goodbye to the Gingerbread house.

The guests who visited the display in 2024 most likely had no idea that it would be the last time they would ever snap a photo of it or enjoy its distinctly Christmasy aroma throughout the lobby. It will surely be missed.

What Will Replace the Gingerbread House

Disney will reportedly replace the Gingerbread house with smaller displays. More details will be announced closer to the holiday season.

Perhaps not all is lost. Fan backlash has contributed to the return of popular offerings like Happily Ever After and 'Ohana Noodles. But, the truth as we currently know it is that the Gingerbread house is now a thing of the past. It joins the Dream Finder, the Osborne Lights, Rivers of America, and so many other pieces of Disney as something that only exists in the realms of nostalgia.

  1. It is change for the sake of change. No logic. Just someone wanting to make an impact with their own ideas. Smart people build upon the success of the past and make iconic things even better. Not the case here.
