Delta Cancels Food and Beverage Service on Select Flights
The airline industry is experiencing a shake-up. And now Delta is shaking things up a bit as well. See whether the change impacts your Disney travel plans.
Airline Industry Shake Up

By now, you have probably heard about the major shake-up in the airline industry. In fact, it may have impacted your travels.
As of this month, Spirit Airlines is officially closed for business. You can read the story HERE.
People have expected this closure to contribute to rising airline costs across other companies. And, some people attribute Delta's latest cut to customer perks as a reaction to the shake-up. However, I (Kate) am not so sure that this change wasn't a long time coming.
Delta Cuts Food and Beverage Service

Delta Airlines made an announcement of its own, cutting customer perks. Starting on May 19, 2026, Delta will no longer be offering food and beverage service on select flights, unless, of course, customers are traveling in first class.
This change only impacts short-haul flights. The food and beverage service cuts apply to flights under 350 miles.
Previously, provided the weather cooperated, Delta would at least provide water and a snack to customers on these flights, but now customers will want to bring their own cookies. The change impacts an estimated 9% of Delta's flights.
Will This Impact Your Trip to Disney

If you are flying to Walt Disney World, it is unlikely that this change will impact your flight, even if you are traveling from Atlanta or have a layover in Atlanta. The flight between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) is just over 400 miles.
Walt Disney World trips will most likely not be impacted. However, Disneyland trips could be impacted.
If you are traveling to visit Disneyland on a short-haul flight, the change may impact your in-flight experience. If, for example, you are flying to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS), you will not receive the food and beverage service.
If you are unsure whether your flight is impacted, you can check the flight's distance in miles in the Delta Airlines app.
What do you think about Delta's cut to food and beverage services on short-haul flights? Does it really make that much of a difference, or is it a perk that customers are going to miss? Feel free to share your thoughts.
