Is Disney Too Expensive?

Over the past several months, the Walt Disney Company has been under attack by many who feel that the Disney parks are too expensive for the average family.

These conversations first began when a Wall Street Journal post"Some inside Disney worry that the company has become addicted to price hikes and has reached the limits of what middle-class Americans can afford."

The Walt Disney Company responded, stating that they felt the lifelong memories that guests create as well worth the current price. This led many to believe that the Walt Disney Company was truly out of touch with its target audience.

Many felt that D'Amaro could be our answer for great Theme Park affordability. Today during the Annual Meeting of Shareholders, a question targeted high Disney Park prices.

D'Amaro shares that the goal of Disney Parks is to deliver great value. D'Amaro shares that even those families who are "budget conscious" can still enjoy a Disney family vacation.

D'Amaro began to list the current promotions offered by the Walt Disney Company. The problem is that many of these "promotions" are not available to all Guests. For instance the current $50 Disneyland Child Ticket offer and the Free Disney Dining Plan (for kids ages 3-9)at Walt Disney World.

D'Amaro shares, "What we try to do is provide a fair amount of choice and flexibility for our Guests while at the same time making sure that we're managing daily attendance and overall experience."

These two promotions listed a far cry from the previous perks and promotions once offered by the Walt Disney Company.
