Pixar's First-Ever Musical Movie is on the Way
If you love the feel of a Disney animated musical but you also love Pixar's edge, we have some fun news for you. The first-ever Pixar musical is in development!

Disney's musical adventures have been delighting audiences on the silver screen for a Century. The company has long been creating stories that blend the magic of music and film.
Sure, Disney's films that revolve primarily around story, like Treasure Planet, Emperor's New Groove, and Atlantis, are entertaining. But, there is something about a Disney musical that speaks to audiences on an entirely different level.
And now a new musical is in development! Here is what we know.
Pixar's First Musical
Although there have been many musical Disney films, there has yet to be a true Pixar musical. No Pixar film has capitalized on the classic Disney formula.
Sure, some Pixar films are music-focused. Soul comes to mind. But hit franchises like Toy Story, Inside Out, and Finding Nemo have had plenty of success sticking to storytelling strategies that don't involve musical numbers.
However, now, Disney has revealed that it is finally time for Pixar to spontaneously burst into song. A Pixar musical is on the way!

According to the Wall Street Journal, Academy Award winner Domee Shi, the creative force behind Pixar's feature-length film Turning Red, is heading up the project. While not a full-blown musical, Turning Red had plenty of musical elements and even introduced audiences to 4*TOWN, a fictitious boy band, which added charm to the film. It will be interesting to see Shi take on an actual musical.
