Disney Contributes to Hurricane Melissa Relief in Jamaica
You have likely heard about the impact Hurricane Melissa has had on Jamaica. Here is how the Walt Disney Company is contributing to the relief effort.
Hurricane Melissa

Hurricane Melissa was a source of great anxiety last week. The fears of many were affirmed when it made landfall in Jamaica on Tuesday as a massive Category 5 storm.
It brought with it devastating destruction, the likes of which Jamaica has never seen. Parts of the beautiful island are now unrecognizable.
Over ⅓ of the population has been directly affected by the destruction. And there have been at least 5 confirmed fatalities. The storm went on to hit Haiti, Cuba, the Bahamas, and Bermuda as a Category 2 storm as well.
Contributions from Disney

The Walt Disney Company is committing $1 million to assist with critical relief and recovery efforts following the impact of Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica. After all, Disney Cruise Line has maintained a port presence in Jamaica for over a decade.
According to a press release from Disney, this contribution will assist Disney cast and crew in the region. It will also support nonprofits providing immediate aid, including UNICEF USA, World Central Kitchen, and Good360.
The funding will ultimately help provide emergency supplies, food, shelter, and other essential services. Hopefully, it will be of help to families and communities working to rebuild after the storm.
A Statement from Disney
