Universal Orlando Resort is set to start the demolition of an entire area in one of its theme parks. Here is what to expect on your next visit.
Changes at Universal Orlando

Recently, Universal Orlando Resort announced that big changes are in the works for all of its theme parks. Upgrades and expansions have been planned for Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and even the brand-new park Epic Universe!
For example, we have already seen demolition begin in Universal Studios. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is closed, and it is already coming down, and we are looking forward to the replacement.
But not all projects move as quickly. And the latest one has been a LONG time coming.
Universal Demolition

Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed that construction activity is coming to Islands of Adventure. We will finally see changes at the Lost Continent.
Construction permits have been filed. A nearly 5-acre expanse of the park will be demolished. Get ready to see and hear construction if you are visiting in the coming months.
This development isn’t entirely surprising. The land’s premier attraction, a special effects show called Poseidon’s Fury, closed forever in May 2023. The space hasn’t been utilized to its potential in quite some time.
What is Replacing the Lost Continent

Universal has not confirmed what is replacing the Lost Continent at this time. There have been ample rumors swirling, and there is speculation surrounding both Zelda-themed and Lord of the Rings-themed areas. However, nothing is official yet. All that has been revealed is that Universal is preparing the area for future development.
A Lost Continent replacement has not been confirmed yet.
For now, it does appear that Universal’s popular restaurant Mythos is not going to be impacted. You can see our Mythos review HERE.
