The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is Disney’s flagship resort. It is also one of the nicest and most elegant resorts on the property.

All guests can visit this lobby, even if they are not staying at the Grand Floridian. However, the Grand Floridian has been in a state of refurbishment for the last several years, affecting many of its special amenities.

The Grand Floridian lobby is going through a major refurbishment.  One of the most notable changes is the addition of the Grand Floridian Lobby Bar.

Almost three weeks ago, we shared the impact that the Grand Floridian lobby was having on its Guests. Construction was everywhere.

At that time, the foundation for the Birdcage Bar was beginning to take shape.

However, the construction stretched far beyond just the Birdcage Bar. Everywhere you turned, there was construction happening. Construction even ended up shutting down access to the Grand Staircase. You can see it HERE.

The construction is still in full force. There are no signs of anything lessening. The white curtains remain up along with a few more added, blocking the view for Guests.

You can see the shape of the Birdcage Bar now really taking shape. The walls and roof are now framed. Check it out in the video below:

The Grand Staircase still has the wall and locked door blocking off access to Guests. There is now white curtains blocking the scaffolding that was being placed on our last visit. Guests have to either take the elevator or use the small staircase at the far end of the lobby.

Construction noise continues to be loud and can be heard through the entire lobby. Hopefully, when this construction is complete this lobby will be even more impressive than it was before.
