Disney guests love this Walt Disney World Resort perk, but a closing date has now been set. Find out how this may affect your next Disney trip.
2025 Disney Resort Perk

Staying at one of the Walt Disney World Resorts offers a few perks. New for 2025 packages: Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel can enjoy admission to one of the water parks on check-in day! This is included with your stay.
When just Blizzard Beach was open this spring, the park hit capacity several times. Disney World helped to alleviate this problem by opening up both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach for summer 2025.
This is the first time that both water parks have been open since 2020.
Blizzard Beach Closing

We were hoping that having both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon open simultaneously would help accommodate all guests, but on at least one occasion, Blizzard Beach was still turning guests away due to reaching capacity.
Now, Walt Disney World has announced a closing date for Blizzard Beach on September 8, 2025. We assume that this closure will be for an annual refurbishment. A reopening date has not been announced.
Interestingly, Blizzard Beach recently closed for a brief refurbishment in May 2025, but now will be closing again to guests. Typhoon Lagoon will be the only water park open beginning September 8, 2025.
With the Florida weather still quite warm in September, we may again see overcrowding and the water park reaching capacity, as Walt Disney World Resort guests hope to enjoy this free perk.
Best Tips to Enjoy Disney Water Parks

If you hope to enjoy a cool day at either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach, our best tip is to arrive early. This may be easier said than done if you are enjoying this as a free resort perk for your day of check-in.
Blizzard Beach closes on September 8, 2025.
Remember to pack your patience if you will be visiting the water parks later in the afternoon, and understand that you may have to allow additional travel time if one water park hits capacity, as it has done in the past. Click to see our comparison of both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.
