Test Track is finally scheduled to reopen at EPCOT. But, just when it looked like every attraction at EPCOT would be running once again, Disney dropped an announcement.

Now, we know that another EPCOT attraction is going down for refurbishment. “Refurbishment” is certainly a word everyone hopes to avoid during their visits to Walt Disney World, especially for occasional or once-in-a-lifetime visits.

However, the reality is that refurbishments help to ensure that attractions run efficiently and, more importantly, safely. After all, no one can have fun if they aren’t at least reasonably certain that the attractions they are enjoying are safe.

Soon, it will be Spaceship Earth’s time for a refurbishment. Disney has announced its temporary closure. Spaceship Earth is the classic EPCOT attraction inside the Geosphere.

At one time, Disney had plans to completely overhaul Spaceship Earth. You can see those plans here. However, that project was canceled along with several other EPCOT projects.

However, for the time being, it looks as if this refurbishment has nothing to do with those canceled plans. This is scheduled to be a routine refurbishment.

Spaceship Earth is set to close on August 25, 2025. However, this will not be a terribly long refurbishment.

If all goes according to plan, Spaceship Earth should be open again later this year. So, it is possible we will see a fully operational EPCOT in 2025!
