Much Needed Refurbishment is Coming to Disney’s French Quarter

For a stress-free Disney or Universal Studios vacation, let the FREE expert planners at Royal Carriage Vacations take care of every detail including dining reservations, applying discounts, and onboard cruise credit.

Most of the time, we cringe when Disney mentions a “refurbishment”, but this time we are on board. However, this may affect your next stay at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter. Get the full details and dates before you book your next vacation.

Refurbishment sparks dread around the Disney Parks. From time to time our favorite attractions are closed for a minor or sometimes major refurbishment.

While Guests prepare for upcoming Disney vacations, much time is devoted to selecting the perfect Resort and dining locations for their trip. What Guests may not always consider are current refurbishments scheduled for their Disney Resort.

Disney does try to keep work times and noise levels in consideration, and much work is completed while guests are busy throughout the day. However, this may still affect the overall ambiance of your resort stay.

Disney’s Port Orleans consists of both Riverside and the French Quarter. They both offer great amenities and you can check the pros and cons for each resort HERE.

Port Orleans French Quarter features great theming throughout the resort that allows guests to feel as though they are in the middle of a Mardi Gras parade. The Doubloon Lagoon Pool is the feature pool for this resort and just recently reopened after a lengthy refurbishment.

There is so much to absolutely love about Port Orleans French Quarter with the great theming, the Scat Cat’s Lounge, and delicious beignets. The one thing that is lacking at this resort is in the actual resort rooms.

Refurbishment Announced

In my (Donna) opinion, the beauty and uniqueness of the resort are somehow lost once you enter the resort room. During a recent stay, it felt that a refurbishment was long overdue.

Today the Walt Disney World website states that French Quarter guest rooms will undergo a refurbishment starting in May 2024 through November 2024. This will undoubtedly limit the number of resort rooms available for guests during this time.

We look forward to this refurbishment and can’t wait to see if a retheming may help bring the fun of Mardi Gras into these resort rooms

We were at FQ in March and are so looking forward to the pool being open when we come back in August. I agree the rooms need to be freshened up by I hope it won’t be too disruptive while we are there. No one mentioned this project when we finalized our plans yesterday
