Big changes are coming to shopDisney and we have all the details. Find out what this means for your favorite Disney merchandise and how this will affect your online shopping experience.
Name Change
shopDisney has been in the news recently, but unfortunately not in the best light. Last month, we shared that shopDisney Customer Service employees were told of massive layoffs. We were shocked when Disney announced that a third-party company would soon take care of this guest satisfaction department.
Back in 2017, the Walt Disney Company chose to rebrand their online store. The name changed from DisneyStore.com to shopDisney.com. However, this was not simply a name change but also a shift to target a new retail audience.
Earlier we shared that there were rumors that shopDisney would return to the former Disney Store name. Today, Disney has confirmed this rumor.
What will change?
shopDisney launched a new “Things To Know” page under shopDisney Guest Services. Soon all Disney-owned shops, e-commerce, shop-in-shops, and outlets will come under in one, Disney Store.
There will be a few exceptions such as the World of Disney and other stores located in the Disney Parks will retain their current names. The reason for the change will “allow Guests to shop the stores they love and find the authentic, high-quality product they expect across all shopping destinations.”
How will this affect you?
Current orders placed with shopDisney will still be fulfilled as promised. Guests will still be able to see their full order history with shopDisney even after this change.
This change will be global and guests will begin to see changes to the website with logos and an updated look and feel very soon. Later, guests will notice new packaging in delivery.
Soon, emails and order confirmations will feature the new Disney Store logo. In the US, we will see changes to the shopDisney website on February 14th. Disney shares that “there may be limited times when access to the website is temporarily unavailable.”
shopDisney will officially change back to Disney Store on February 14.
These changes will come to the shopDisney website this coming week. You may want to place an order now if you there are some items in your shopping cart. Be sure to use the new shopDisney promo code.
