In September 2019, Disney announced several projects for Epcot. This ultimately led to a complete overhaul of the park.

We have seen several of those projects completed since then. Those include Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Plus, Disney reimagined Mouse Gears (into Creations Shop) and Club Cool and overhauled the park’s entrance.

According to Disney Parks Blog, “As part of the historic transformation of EPCOT, teams have been reimagining the front of the park and the entry experience for guests. In the future, there will be a new location near Spaceship Earth called Dreamers Point with a spectacular view of the park.”

This new statue will be called “Walt the Dreamer. The featured plaque states, “Walt Disney said that EPCOT should always be in a state of becoming. He wanted to create a space that inspires people to keep dreaming of the future and celebrate the magic of possibility.”

Once installed, this “Walt the Dreamer” statue will be placed behind Spaceship Earth. It will appear that Walt is looking out over all of EPCOT. This is such a great way to honor Walt Disney.

Guests who attended the D23 Expo in September had a chance to see the statue in person. Seeing the actual statue in person made it very real for those lucky enough, and it gave the rest of us great hope that it will be installed soon.

Then, Disney moved the statue from Disneyland to Disney World over a year ago. It was on display for Cast Members attending The Walt Disney Legacy Award Celebration.

Since then, this statue was kept somewhere safe until Disney was ready to install it at Epcot. And, it’s there right now!

Walt’s birthday is December 5, and the statue will be open and available for Guests to come see it on that very same day!

He sits with a sense of fulfillment, enjoying the beauty of his realized dream: a park that represents pure optimism and truly celebrates the magic of possibility.

According to Disney, this new statue of Walt is one of many areas to visit as a part of World Celebration Gardens where guests will be able to relax, unwind, and connect – to EPCOT, to nature and to each other.

Each of the gardens found in the center of World Celebration, including Dreamers Point, will connect back to the areas surrounding them, drawing on the architectural legacy of EPCOT, modern lighting elements and a variety of natural textures.
