Is Iger warming up to the idea of merging with Apple? It sure sounds like it.

Apple and Disney?

Rumors have circulated for years that Apple was planning to buy The Walt Disney Company. These rumors reached great heights when Steve Jobs was still alive. He and CEO Bob Iger were great friends. Both were successful. Although Disney is worth a lot of money, apple could probably buy them out.

While Iger did not confirm or deny that Apple would ever purchase The Walt Disney Company, he did speak briefly on the topic late last year. This was shortly after he stepped back in as CEO. When asked at the Town Hall meeting, Iger said it is “nothing more than speculation.”

IGER STATED A POSSIBLE PURCHASE OF THE COMPANY BY APPLE IS NOTHING MORE THAN SPECULATION.

Now, he seems to be stepping down on those previous comments and seems a bit more accepting of the idea of being owned by Apple.

During the 3rd Quarter Earnings Call, he spoke about theme park attendance, Disney+ changes, and more. He also made this comment when discussing the idea of Apple buying Disney.

“I’m not going to speculate about the potential for Disney to be acquired by any company, whether it’s a technology company or not. Obviously, anyone who wants to speculate about such things would have to immediately consider the global regulatory environment. I’ll say no more than that. It’s not something that we obsess about.”

It’s not something we obsess about.

What would The Walt Disney Company become if it got into the hands of a big tech company like Apple? Would we notice differences in the parks, animation and film, cruise lines, and more? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below and pass this post along to a friend.

I don't know much about Apple as a company. I have been a Windows user for 40+ years and an Android phone user for a number of years. If Apple would bring in a new, sensible senior leadership team with entertainment industry experience, and tell Iger and Team good-bye, this sounds like a good move. Disney's current problems will not be addressed if Iger remains CEO. Disney's problems today are the result of the implementation of Iger's ideas, many of which preceeded Iger's retirement.

If it happened I would hope they would finally upgrade the crappy computer systems.

I would be done with Disney if it becomes part of Apple.
