Over the last few years, Disney has developed a habit of rebooting animated classics as live-action films. Among the movies that have received reboots are Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Lion King, Aladdin, and Dumbo.

Unless you actually live under the sea (or under a rock), you have probably heard by now that Disney has created a live-action version of The Little Mermaid. The movie’s cast includes stars like Halle Bailey (Ariel), Melissa McCarthy (Ursula)Daveed Diggs (Sebastian), and Jonah Hauer-King (Prince Eric.)

Don’t forget that the film’s release also means that there is a live-action character meet in the parks! You can read about it here

The film did incredibly well at theaters! In fact, it did better than projected! Disney’s newest live-action remake brought in $117.5 million at the US box office during its opening weekend. The movie is the fifth best Memorial Day opening weekend ever!

If you haven’t already purchased the digital version back in July, you’ll be happy to know it will be available with your Disney+ subscription very soon! It will arrive on Disney+ on September 6, 2023.

This follows the same rough pattern of releasing content to Disney+ 90 days after it premiers in theaters. The other big Disney movie this summer, The Haunted Mansion, just debuted at the end of July. That means we should see that movie pop up on Disney+ just in time for Halloween.

You can watch Disney’s live action remake of The Little Mermaid on Disney+ beginning September 6, 2023.

Did you see the new Little Mermaid or are you waiting for it arrive on Disney+? If you did watch it, what did you think of it? Let us know in the comments below. Be sure to pass this post along to someone who may also want this information!

It was terrible. I can not believe that I wasted my money going to see it. There is so much wrong with the movie. It is cringy. The cgi is sooooo bad. Flounder and scuttle are creepy looking and since when can scuttle go under water and talk like that?? All the sisters are a different race and have no mother so it just leaves an uneasy feeling for me like, why so many baby mamas and not 1 is around?? It's just so strange. I didn't like it at all.
