Saving the galaxy this time is gonna take more than a dance-off. Guests visiting EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort better get ready to crank up the mixtape and blast off on an awesome intergalactic chase through time and space in Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind!

This new family-thrill coaster matches the and fun and thrill of the blockbuster “Guardians of the Galaxy” films. It features our favorite cosmic outlaws: Rocket, Groot, Drax, Gamora and Star-Lord (a.k.a. Peter Quill). The one-of-a-kind attraction is another milestone in the ongoing transformation of EPCOT.

It is one of my favorite attractions at Disney World! To make sure you get a chance to ride this cool coaster, read all the information HERE.

A big change

Tonight is Epcot’s After Hours. This is a great chance to experience low wait times.

The attraction is operating with a standby line tonight! Why is this such a big deal?

Guests can only ride the attraction by joining the free virtual queue or purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane. This limits the number of times you can ride in one day. With this new change, Guests can potentially spend the entire evening riding Cosmic Rewind over and over again.

Cosmic Rewind is operating with a standby queue tonight.

Good news for the future?

It’s not likely the standby line will continue to stick around for daytime hours tomorrow and the immediate future. However, this is a good sign Disney is testing standby procedures with a smaller number of Guests.

Hopefully in the coming months Disney will drop the virtual queue altogether for the attraction.

We did the virtual queue for this and TRON on our recent trip, I like virtual queues as you have time to do other stuff while waiting for your boarding time. On a side note I will never do Guardians again, the backwards launch and continual round and round made my motion sickness kick in big time, no problems with other coaster rides - TRON was amazing, Expedition Everest - Wow! My advice if you have any inkling of motion sickness issues then seriously consider not riding Guardians

This is welcome news especially for folks who shell out big bucks for deluxe resorts for extended evenings and then were told no can do with literally no line....glad to see disney listening to the concerns of guests!

As others have said. Only one side was working and wasted most of your after hours time waiting over an hour for the ride.

I prefer virtual queue. I can see, eat, spend and just do anything else while i wait for my boarding pass

We were at the Epcot After Hours on June 1. Only one side running. Sixty minute wait. Went down during our first try at 9:15. Many exited line. Stalled 10 minutes then line moved again. When reached loading area one loading side only working. Maintenance walking through for show. One ride in, then went to test track that had 20 minute wait time posted but was to the door. It went down when we were waiting to design vehicles. Left after 10 minutes and went back to Guardians for posted 60 minute wait. We waited 70. Prefer the virtual boarding group. Cost of this after hours not worth it. Better off the buy Genie +. Total waste of time, energy, and money.
