You may inadvertently help determine future plans for Disney Parks. Find out what Disney is tracking and why.
Plans for Expansion
Disney Parks are always changing and growing. As Walt Disney once said, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” This goal to “Keep Moving Forward” is a constant mantra of The Walt Disney Company over the past 100 years.
Recently, Disney CEO Bob Iger shared that the state of Florida needs Walt Disney World and that Disney plans to invest over 17 Billion dollars in Walt Disney World which will create 13,000 additional jobs.
What does Disney have up their sleeves with this possible new expansion? Well, the fact is that you may have a hand in determining this.
Intellectual Property
Previously former Disney CEO Bob Chapek shared tracking Disney+ viewing habits could positively impact a guest’s visit to the Parks. Even better, it suggests streaming options for guests at home. This type of technology may be a bit off-putting to some guests.
Today during an SVB MoffettNathanson Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, Disney CFO Christine McCarthy shared more on this. Previously Disney used box office success and popularity in Disney Parks to determine future planning. With Disney+, this opens a whole new world of consumer information.
McCarthy shares, “…now we have much more rich data…we have box office for those films that do go theatrical, but we also have consumer data that we get primarily off Disney+….this better informs our creatives and our Imagineers to lean into things that we can really exploit in our theme park business.”
Disney+ opens up a whole new world of consumer information.
It is possible that the movies and shows you choose to stream today can influence future imagineering plans.
What do you think of this Intellectual Property? Do you think this is crossing a line? How do you think this could improve the Disney Parks and/or Disney+? Share your thoughts in the comments and share this with a Fellow Disney Pal.
