Annual Passes

When both Disney World and Disneyland closed in March 2020, many changes took place. Among those were their annual pass programs. At one point, you could not purchase new passes for either coast for several months.

In August 2021, Disney finally announced new/modified programs at both Disneyland and Disney World. There are now more tiers, higher prices, and different park pass allotments.

However, that was short-lived as many of the tiers sold out. They have been unavailable for months. Most Guests who want to purchase new passes or let their passes expire are out of luck.

Sales of Annual Passes finally resumed today, April 20, 2023. Many guests were expecting sales to resume promptly at 6:00 a.m. this morning. However, guests trying to purchase an Annual Pass were met with a virtual queue and extremely long wait times.

It was not much longer until sales of Annual Passes became paused for a short period of time. Thankfully, this was only a short amount of time and sales have since resumed.

Then Disney shared the following message: Due to high popularity of our Annual Passes, please know wait times may exceed several hours. We anticipate a pass or select passes may become unavailable for purchase later today. Read more HERE on this update.

Interesting Twist

As of 9:00pm tonight, the Disney Incredi-Pass, Disney Pixie Pass, Disney Pirate Pass, and the Disney Sorcerer Pass were still available. However, there may be a catch to purchase them now.

Just a few minutes ago, Disney sent a message telling those waiting in the online queue to keep their browser open. At 11:00pm EST, Annual Pass sales will pause. Guests will remain in the queue overnight, as long as they remain connected to the network and keep their browser open.

Guests will remain in the queue overnight, as long as they remain connected to the network and keep their browser open.

Pass sales will resume no earlier than 7:15am.

What do you think about staying in the online overnight queue? Does that stress you out or is it an efficient way to keep your place in line? Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

I guarantee locals spend way more money than people that visit 1-2 times a year on vacation.

Time to cancel all passes. Let locals pay the same as everyone else. When Disney Land then WDW owned there was a need to make the parks look busy, to draw in more tourists (who they were built for). Now those passes just over fill them with entitled locals. Who spend as little as possible. Time to end it.

I went online last night about 7:15 or so, got right in, paid and my pass was in the MyDisney app immediately. Could not have been any easier.

And here we are two days later and all passes still available. Disney really got everyone into the ‘scarcity’ mindset: I’m pretty sure these won’t sell out. Disney needs cash. This is a great way.
