Since the phased reopening of the theme parks, park reservations have been required for all four theme parks. Although Disney makes more park passes available at times, it’s a good idea to secure them as soon as you book your vacation. This is especially important during busier times of the year.

Earlier we shared that some guests were blocked for a few key dates at the Magic Kingdom. This included the return of Happily Ever After on April 3rd and the official opening of TRON on April 4th.

Unfortunately, Park Passes are still unavailable for all Annual Passholders on April 3rd for the return of Happily Ever After. This is not as troubling as Annual Passholders can still hop over to Magic Kingdom after 2:00 pm to enjoy the return of this great show.

For several weeks all Annual Passholders were blocked for park reservations on April 4th for the opening of TRON. This would be very problematic. A standby queue will not be available for TRON.

Guests can either join a virtual queue or purchase an Individual Lightning Lane. Guests hoping to join a virtual queue for TRON will need a Magic Kingdom Park Pass to join the virtual queue at 7:00 am or 1:00 pm. Without a park pass, guests hoping to park hop to Magic Kingdom can only join a boarding group after they enter Magic Kingdom at 2:00 pm.

The good news is that Annual Passholders with an IncrediPass and the Sorcerer Pass may now make a park reservation for Magic Kingdom on April 4th. All other Annual Passholders continue to be blocked until mid-April at the Magic Kingdom.

  1. We hate the park reservations and the lightning lane system. The old system ensured that ALL guests had a great time. Now the Disney World experience for guests is hit-or-miss. Our out-of-town visitors no longer have an interest in going to Disney. There are so many other entertainment options in the Orlando area for a fraction of the price.

  2. Reservations can stay but someone with an annual should not be blocked out ever… Just have to make a reservation so Disney knows how many people are going to be at the park.

  3. I very much dislike the park reservation system and the lightning lane system. Those take away from the Disney magic!!!
After I take my grandson for his first ever Disney trip I will be finding other vacation destinations. Many other places are less crowded and way less expensive.

  4. I agree too complicated and to spend all that money and only to make it on to 3 rides when arriving 1st thing in the morning and being the last to leave.. no magic there.. too stressful even for the littles.

  5. I wish the park reservation system would be eliminated. There is so much to keep straight nowadays going to WDW, just making things a bit more streamlined would be a huge help for average citizens. Those Who love Disney and continue to want it to be a part of their lives. All the different levels of reservations and costs and Genie versus Genie plus an ILL versus virtual queue. It’s very confusing and overwhelming for the average person. Some of us older fans of WDW would love to go back to the simpler days of Disney. Where you buy a ticket and you enter a park. My husband in particular has said that all of these changes since the pandemic have ruined the magic of Disney for him. He doesn’t care if he never goes back. I am sure many people feel that. And I feel very bad and very sad for them.
