Hurricane Ian is closing down Walt Disney World. News of the closure broke earlier today. We also know that soon it will be impossible to fly into MCO and other airports in the storm’s path.

We have been working hard to provide you updates as Hurricane Ian moves closer to the Florida coastline. Recently, we provided an update as we found out that Orange county, and the surrounding counties, were placed under a Tropical Cyclone Watch/Warning. Check out the latest updates on how this hurricane affects guests HERE.

Checking In?

For the safety of Disney World Resort guests and Cast Members, all guests including Disney Vacation Club members must check into a Disney World Resort by tomorrow, September 28, by 3:00 p.m. If you choose not to check in, you may reschedule your trip or cancel your stay at Disney. Disney is waiving any customary cancellation fees this week. Please know that there will be no check-ins on Thursday, September 29. Please consider this in your travel plans.

What to Expect at Resorts

Guests that are checked in by 3:00 p.m. Wednesday will be asked to shelter in place at their resort for the duration of the storm. Not only will guests shelter in place, but there will be no resort-to-resort transfers during the storm. Please be prepared if staying at Disney World. You will want a portable charger, snacks that don’t need to be refrigerated, and lots of water. Games would be a great idea if stuck in your room.

Food and Beverage Options

Guests are strongly encouraged to enjoy food and beverage offerings at the parks and Disney Springs before returning to their resort hotels. Dining options for Guests staying in our Resort hotels will vary, and in some cases may be very limited. Where available, restaurants will accept walk-ups only; Guests will not need dining reservations.

Other Considerations

Even if you’re dining at a character dining location, please keep in mind that characters will not be available at any of these dining locations on Wednesday and Thursday. This is to keep needed Cast Members needed to a minimum number.

The Grand Floridian Spa will close at noon Wednesday, September 28.
