Big issues with Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane Selections this morning

Disney World Guests ran into big errors while trying to purchase Genie+ and make Individual Lightning Lane Selections this morning.

What is Genie+? Here is the shortened version: for $15 per person per day at Disney World, choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance.

You can choose to use the standby line instead of purchasing Genie+. In doing so, Disney is not forcing you to pay for this feature.

You can make one selection at a time all throughout the day. 40+ attractions are included at Walt Disney World like Space Mountain, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and more.

What is ILLS? Individual Lightning Lane Selections are priced per person per attraction. You can select up to two headliners per day to ride using this option.

This option also utilizes Lightning Lane lines in the theme parks like Genie+ does. It’s also important to note that you do not have to buy Genie+ in order to buy your Individual Lightning Lane Selections. You can purchase one and not the other. This will be beneficial if you just want to ride the headliners and use the regular standby lines for the rest.

Big issues today

Unfortunately, Guests currently at Disney World ran into big issues with trying to purchase Genie+ and the ILLS today, June 14. Anytime they tried to open the My Disney Experience app to purchase their selections, they were met with an error message that looked like this:

“Your selections aren’t loading at this time. Please refresh your screen or go back to the previous screen to try again.”

Guests were unable to purchase selections during that time. It’s also worth noting when I was in the Tip Board, it still showed available return times for each attraction under Genie+ and ILLS.

Fortunately, it appears Disney remedied this situation in a timely manner because both systems are back up and running! So why tell you this? Even though the issue is fixed, we still think it’s important to show you what could happen in case you run into the same issue on a future trip!

Be aware of what this error page looks like, and be sure to refresh often as you never know when it could be resolved!
