Last time I rode “it’s a small world” in Walt Disney World, I noticed so many “wishes” underneath our boat. I found myself wondering exactly what Disney does with all of the “wishes”, or coins, you can see scattered in the water. Turns out, Disney uses them to spread a little pixie dust in the most magical way.
Wishing wells and waterways
You may have noticed several wishing wells on your last visit to Disney World. Or maybe you noticed the layer of coins at the bottom of Pirates of the Caribbean and wondered, what happens to those “wishes?”
Well, it wouldn’t be Disney World if they didn’t pass along those wishes to help spread a little pixie dust.
Periodically, the coins you see in wishing wells and in waterways in Walt Disney World are collected, and then Disney donates them to help other wishes come true.
Disney empties the coins and donates to charities all over central Florida! The coins, dropped as wishes, are gathered from several iconic locations around Walt Disney World, including Cinderella’s Wishing Well at Cinderella Castle, the waterways of “it’s a small world“, and several other fountains.
Recently, Disney collected coins from all over Walt Disney World, and they were able to donate $30,000 in “wishes” to Give Kids the World Village!

Give Kids the World Village
Give Kids the World Village was established in 1986, and it is an incredibly special place.
Walt Disney World works with Give Kids the World Village to grant wishes for very special children. Give Kids the World Village offers children who’s wish is to visit Walt Disney World through the Make a Wish program a place to stay, laugh, and play while creating priceless memories together in Walt Disney World, away from hospital visits and medical procedures.
Walt Disney’s World’s donation, combined with a recent $500,000 grant will help Give Kids the World Village continue to make wishes come true.
We’ve had an amazing relationship with Walt Disney World Resort for more than 35 years, and this donation on top of the recent $500,000 grant will help us to continue making dreams come true for our very special wish families who visit the Village.
