Fantasmic
The Fantasmic show has delighted Guests since 1992 (with a closure in 2016). This show has remained closed since the reopening of the parks.
In November 2021, we shared that Fantasmic will be returning in 2022. Disney has shared that Fantasmic will reopen with a few changes. The new Fantasmic show will feature “new animation, water effects, and everything that we love about Fantasmic.” Be sure to check out the details for these new show scenes HERE.
Possible Causes for Delayed Reopening
The question that many guests have is when the show reopen. Although a definite date has not been set, Disney shares that Fantasmic will reopen this year. Now we may have a bit more understanding for the delay of Fantasmic.
Previously Disneyland President, Ken Potrock, shared the delays experienced at Disneyland. We were curious if Walt Disney World may be experiencing similar delays.
Such as at Disneyland the reopeing of Fantasmic is requiring a bit more magic than Sorcerer Mickey can wield. Today Katrina Rick, Broadcast Creative Producer at Disney, elaborated on the current upgrades taking place for Fantasmic.
Work is now being done to the lighting, audio systems and projection systems for Fantasmic resulting in a delayed reopening.
She shares that Disney is currently upgrading lighting, audio systems, and projection systems for the reopening of this show. In the end, this will upgrade the beloved nighttime spectacular, but it is still frustrating for guests. We hope that Fantasmic wil be able to delight guests very soon.

It was closed when we went in 2019 as well as the MK railroad, going at the end of August and was so looking forward to Fantasmic. I'm very disappointed.
