Disney is always looking for new and innovative ways to make the community stronger, and with this new announcement they are looking help the community with an affordable living solution.

Disney announced they have earmarked 80 acres of land for affordable housing in central Florida. Jeff Vahle, president of Walt Disney Resort, shared how excited he is about this upcoming project.

We are invested in working together with our community to solve complex issues. The lack of affordable housing is affecting many people across our county, including right here in Central Florida. With this initiative, we’re lending a hand to make a real and meaningful impact in our company’s strength’s. This is the right opportunity and the right time to take action.

What can we expect in this new development?

This affordable housing development will include more than 1300 housing units. The project will be constructed by a third-party affordable housing developer and be located right on Disney-owned land.

It will offer residents a variety of home choices that are attainable and affordable! The location is close to schools and the Flamingo Crossings Town Center retail and dining complex.

This new development will be available for qualifying applicants in Central Florida, including Cast Members.

Universal is also joining the affordable housing movement, with it’s own development planned. Stay tuned for information about both developments as it becomes available!
