Guests can now win an exclusive award while visiting Walt Disney World. You don’t want to miss out on this unique opportunity.
New Signs found at Walt Disney World
Yesterday we shared that our team spotted new signs on trash cans, recycle bins, and compost receptacles. To help you better identify where your trash items go, you can look at the colors or the signs. Check out these new signs HERE.
These magnetic signs affixed to the receptacles now make it easier than ever for Guests and Cast Members to designate between trash, recyclable materials, and items for compost. Not only will this aide in Disney’s conservation efforts, but now you can win an award for it as well.
Environmental Hero Award
Today, Dr. Mark Penning, from Disney’s Animal Kingdom, shared the new Environmental Hero Award on his Instagram Page. Dr. Mark shares, “Congratulations to the first recipients of the Guest Environmental Hero Award!”
“These Guests kept the environment top of mind by recycling and refilling reusable water bottles while visiting our parks and resorts. Be a friend to the environment while you’re at Disney and you may be recognized too!”
Each Environmental Hero receives a special pin that looks like a leaf with a clever Mickey Mouse positioned at the top of the pin. You can wear your pin with pride, as others notice the “Environment Hero” inscribed on the pin in large letters.
How to Become an Environmental Hero?
Dr. Mark shares how to receive this award: “You can be an environmental hero and help protect the planet by shopping with reusable bags or choosing to take no bag at all, trying plant-based and sustainable seafood options while dining or placing your trash and recyclables in the right bin while enjoying the parks.”

These are small steps that lead to a big impact for our environment. Now you can be awarded for taking the extra steps by being an “Environmental Hero.”
Cast Members Recognized
Cast Members are recognized as well as “Environmental Heroes.” These Cast members receive not just a pin but a wooden box made from reclaimed wood from the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Dr. Mark shares,“Shout out to the first recipients of the Cast Environmental Hero Award! These Cast members LOVE helping the environment.”
Cast Members were awarded for “their extraordinary dedication to supporting Disney’s environmental goals and initiatives.” The Cast Members featured only represent a few of the hundreds of Cast Members that have received this award.
We are all invited to do our part for the environment while visiting the Disney Parks. This will be great for the environment, and you may be the next recipient of the “Environmental Hero” award.
What do you think of this “Environmental Hero” award? Will you be utilizing these new bins in the Disney Parks? Share your thoughts with us on our Facebook Page.
