Calling all Disney Snack fans! We are loving this delicious snack hack at Aloha Isle!
Aloha Isle
Ah, Aloha Isle, one of my favorite places to indulge at Walt Disney World. Located in Adventureland, Aloha Isle is best known for serving up DOLE Whip as well as DOLE Whip floats.
While pineapple and pineapple twisted with vanilla are the original and classic DOLE Whip flavors, Aloha Isle also serves other flavors of the classic dessert, and they do change periodically. Sometimes you can find lemon, lime, raspberry, strawberry, or even coconut.
Of course these can also be served as floats. The DOLE Whip float, which consists of the frozen dessert doused in pineapple juice, is almost always available. However, you can also find seasonal flavors and unique concoctions.
Order Customization
The seasonal offerings are fun and delicious in their own right. But, as an added bonus, they also make order customization fun!
Did you know that you can ask the Cast Members to swap out the flavors in your dole whip floats even if the option is not available in the app or on the menu? This is easy to do if you do walk up/standby ordering. Simply approach and make requests to withhold or switch ingredients when they create yours.
UPDATE: One of our content creators tried this on a crowded day and was told they cannot customize using 50th Anniversary ingredients. So, the CMS might say no to this one.
My Favorite Snack Hack
My personal favorite new snack hack includes swapping one little item. Currently (as of early 2022), Aloha Isle offers a Raspberry Pineapple swirl DOLE Whip float with pineapple juice.
However, the menu also currently has the Tropical Serenade. This is Pineapple-Orange-Guava Juice, Coconut Soft-serve, and an Upside-down Pineapple Cake Pop. It just so happens that POG juice is one of my favorite things, second only to raspberry pineapple swirl DOLE Whip.
Since there was no line the last time I (Katie) visited, I thought it would be fun to try a Raspberry Swirl float with POG instead of pineapple juice. This is NOT a combination that is available through in-app customization. So, of you want it, you need to ask.
The verdict? It is delicious. It is beyond delicious. As it turns out, raspberry pineapple POG float is one of my favorite desserts ever in the history of desserts. Of course, I imagine POG is good with all of the flavors. Regardless, if you are feeling like mixing things up, I highly recommend the combination.
Pirate Tip
If you do ask for a customization of a menu item, please remember to be kind to your Cast Members when asking. Also be prepared for the answer to be “no.” There are some items they cannot separate because the ingredients come premixed.
And, be sure to thank the Cast Member for a job well done! You can do so in the app, or you can use a more traditional method to send gratitude.
